A Tree-Poem by Fiona Budd

'Not all those who wander are lost.' JRR TOLKIEN

During Autumn 2020, in the height of Lockdown, a very special little tree shared a tree-poem of 22 messages of encouragement, comfort and inspiration. Each message is a mini meditation and there is space in the book for journaling and notes.

For every copy of the book sold one tree is planted through 'One Tree Planted' - over 700 trees have been planted to date since May 2021

ABOUT THE BOOK

Good morning I said to my tree
What news do you have for me?
'The winds and storms are not your fault.'
With immense thanks and gratitude to my Backabuddy donors without whom this book would not have been possible

Clockwork Books

 (Publisher)

Clockwork Books was founded in 2016 as an independent South African publisher and online bookstore for South African authors.  Their mission is to bridge the gap between traditional and self-publishing of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and short stories.

Their new imprint, Zazi Books, provides South African children with relevant fiction in local South African languages.

Phumani Paper & Artist Proof Studio

The leaf bookmark in print copies of the book is made of ficus tree fibre and was made by one of the rural group sites of Phumani Paper –a papermaking and crafts organisation founded in 1999, as a poverty alleviation programme.

The bookmarks were embossed with one of Jay-Lee's leaf designs by Artist Proof Studio,  a Johannesburg non-profit that specialises in arts training, print collaborations, partnerships, sales and distribution of prints and works and collaborations with world-renowned artists such as William Kentridge.

TreeBalletBarre© is my original concept and class that I  began presenting in September 2019.  I have taught classes at the Emmarentia Botanical Gardens in Johannesburg, the Woodlands Spa in Muldersdrift and in a forest in Amsterdam.

Click on the video image to access my 'Introduction to TreeBalletBarre' YouTube video.

TreeBalletBarre© is an outdoor class that combines gentle exercise and toning, breathing and stretching, and a beautiful exchange of healing energy with trees.  The exercise component is based on a basic ballet barre (no previous experience of ballet required) and conditioning exercises and uses a tree as the 'barre' and partner, to directly connect with Nature.
